Benito M. Mari

President of HD Forum Italia from 2007 to 2009, he has been a director of Sony Europe Ltd and General Manager of the Professional Solutions Europe department since 2000. His many years of experience, matured in confrontation with the market and interchange with the Sony parent company (European and Japanese), makes him one of the architects of the current state of the art of the Italian television industry. He has signed important articles on advanced technological solutions and participated in international conferences.

Mario Ailano

Originally a systems developer in the banking and finance sector, his passion for technology and various professional opportunities gradually brought him closer to the world of operating systems, networks, the web, and computer security. Since 2003, he has worked for Mediaset to ensure the continuity and maintenance of the first automatic digital playout project. Since 2016, he has been responsible for digital platforms in broadcasting; production, distribution, and contribution platforms.

Andrea Borgato
An expert in Audio and HDR imaging technologies, he is responsible for Dolby Europe’s development of new opportunities and partnerships in ‘entertainment technology’ – in Broadcast & OTT / Streaming, Studio & Live. He has played an important role in facilitating the transition to the production and distribution of content in Dolby Atmos & 5.1 audio, and in establishing Dolby’s presence in Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and Australia. He has a background in sound engineering, and in 2005 was recognized by the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences for his contribution to the Emmy Award-winning Dolby E technology.

Roberto Borroni
Product Director for NAGRA for content protection product lines including connected TVs, cardless systems, and smart cards, he started developing software for interactive set-top boxes and pay TV in the early 2000s. Between 2004 and 2013, he worked at Mediaset, contributing to the launch of digital terrestrial television services and interactive applications, developing and implementing Mediaset Premium set-top boxes and CAMs, and dealing with security and content protection technology platform for the pay-TV service. He collaborated with DGTVi, HD Forum Italia, and DVB to define the specifications for digital TV receivers and interactive services.

Stefano Bossi
Graduated in Electronic Engineering from Politecnico di Milano with a Master in Multimedia Processing at CEFRIEL, he worked for Bticino (2003), CEFRIEL (2004/2005), and ICT Consulting (2005/2006). Since 2006 he has been working for Mediaset, dealing with various projects related to the latest technologies in IPTV, DRM, video streaming, adaptive video content, and video content protection in the R&D division. Other projects include the Digital Video Project, Premium Play, and Farm Unica.

Diego Gibellino
He represents Telecom Italia in MPEG, DVB, 3GPP SA4, and the joint technical group HD-Forum Italia. He has led several projects on Person-to-Person communication services and IP-based video services. Since 2007, he has been involved in the definition and evolution of IPTV and OTT streaming platforms and related technologies for TIM. He designed and coordinated the development of TIM’s LTE media platform for Public Safety and helped launch the commercial service. He is in charge of the Video & TV Technologies laboratories in Turin in the TIMVISION and Entertainment Products division, Chairman of the UNI/CT 512 “UNINFO SC29” National Committee, and Head of the Italian National Body in ISO/IEC JTC1 SC29 (MPEG eJPEG).

Peter Lanigan
Peter Lanigan works in various standardization bodies and other industry associations on behalf of TP Vision. He covers topics such as broadcast and IP technologies, Smart TV, advanced picture quality, content security, and national and European regulation. He is on the board of CI Plus LLP and chairs the DVB CM-I group, which manages the commercial requirements for the new DVB-I standard for linear TV broadcasting over IP networks.

Vlaho Kostov
Outgoing President of CI Plus LLP, deputy member of the Steering Group of HbbTV Association, and board member of CI Plus LLP and HD Forum Italia, he is one of Panasonic’s R&D executives responsible for the CEE and Mediterranean region and represents the company in several boards, consortia, and industry associations. With 25 years of experience in the consumer electronics, telecommunications, and automotive industries in the private sector, public organizations, and academia, he is deeply involved in R&D, technology management, and new business strategy.

Vittoria Mignone
A graduate of Turin Polytechnic, she has been with RAI since 1992, at the Centre for Research, Technological Innovation, and Experimentation (CRITS), involved in studies on modulation and coding techniques for digital transmissions. He participates in the activities of standardization bodies, for the definition of standards for digital satellite, cable, and terrestrial television. He currently chairs the DVB TM-S group, which develops satellite standards, and the 5G-MAG CD-C group, which studies the commercial prospects of 5G for television broadcasting. She is in charge of the CRITS Fixed and Mobile Networks Department and has authored patents and technical articles for leading international journals and conferences.

Luca Moglia
He obtained a Master’s degree in Cinema and Media Engineering at the Polytechnic University of Turin. He works for Akamai Technologies in Milan as a Senior Solutions Engineer. A software engineer, his background is related to video architecture and Edge & Cloud Delivery and Security. Over the years, his field of knowledge has extended to cloud architecture, software development (Product Owner), and project lead. Recently, he has focused on creating innovative solutions for new projects, following the pre-sales activities and the construction phase of these projects.

Mauro Panella
He will supervise the commercial offering to the media market for Engineering Ingegneria Informatica from January 2021. He has 20 years of experience in the international Broadcast & Media industry, was Vice President of Broadcast and Programming Operations at Fox Networks Group Italy Germany & UK, and worked at Globecast as Operations Manager and at TOROC as CATV manager. From 1997 to 2004, he was Broadcast Facilities & Production Manager for Orbit Satellite Tv Network, responsible for Post Production and Production activities.

Bianca Papini
In 2002 she became Head of Regulatory Affairs at Seat Pagine Gialle. She returned to Telecom Italia as Head of Group TV and Audiovisual Regulation where she initiated the project for the switch off to digital terrestrial TV. In 2008 she became Head of Regulatory Affairs at Telecom Italia Media following the activities for La7, MTV, and the then TIMB, now Persidera. In 2015, he returned to Telecom Italia where she is responsible for relations with the Ministry of Economic Development for the Digital Agenda and BUL projects in digital divide areas. Since the end of 2017, she has been a freelance consultant on networks, frequencies, and, audiovisual. Since 2013 she has been the Coordinator of the Technical Commission of Confindustria Radio Televisioni and since 2017 she has been following the project for the release of the 700 MHz band for the Association.

Stefano Pateri
Started his career at Apple, participated in the start-up of the Italian branch of Adobe and, in the sales and expansion of information technology distribution channels in Imation (3M group) with EMEA sales responsibility. He restructured the high-end retail channel for Bang & Olufsen, then moved on to Virgilio (Matrix), a large advertising client sector and advertising concessionaire in the expansion phase of the portal. In TIM (2011) he followed the relaunch of Video on Demand and projects in the strategic area. Since 2018 he is in Akamai Technologies as a Major Account Executive in charge of publishing and television clients.

Daniele Alberto Rascio
An expert in the field of media, telcos, and new technologies, he is responsible for defining the multi-platform strategy for RAI, a member of international working groups, and an adjunct professor of ‘Media Economics and Management’ at LUISS Guido Carli.

 

Giovanni Venuti
Consultant to HDFI and Editor of the HDFI (U)HD Book Collection for interoperable DTT and SAT receivers, in 1984 he joined CSELT, the research, and development center of the Italian telecommunications holding STET. He played a primary role in the first broadband projects in Telecom Italia (SOCRATE, Torino 2000 …) launching ADSL services in Italy. For more than 15 years, he was Telecom Italia’s (now TIM) representative in DVB.
